Man with a Plan: Pilot Review

man-with-a-planWe all know and love Matt LeBlanc as Joey Tribbiani on FRIENDS. He was charming, hilarious, and fiercely loyal to his friends. Joey and Chandler are ultimate friendship goals, am I right?

Well, we may not have anything but FRIENDS reruns to get us by, but now CBS has given us Man with A Plan. In it, LeBlanc plays Adam Burns, a contractor who is married with three kids… a far cry from Joey Tribbiani who could barely remember a woman’s name the next day.

However, Adam gives us the same Joey sentiments. He’s still hilarious. He’s still vain (at one point I thought/hoped he was going to say the infamous “how you doin’” to himself while looking into a mirror). And he’s still loyal, only now it’s to his family.

His wife is ready to go back to work after being a stay at home mom, and now Adam is taking on the role of “working dad.” Since he’s his own boss as a contractor, he can revolve his schedule around his kids’ schedules. Little does he know what he’s in for though. He’s used to coming home from work and having the kids cleaned up and well-mannered, not realizing all the hard work his wife must put in to get them like that.

He’s ready to quit after the first day, but when his wife wakes up the next morning and is struggling to figure out a way to schedule the kids’ schedules around her work schedule, Adam caves and decides to help once again. He’s forced to figure out a way to get the kids to listen to him and do their chores. When he realizes their addiction, their wi-fi access, he figures out how to use it to his advantage: a rolling wi-fi password equals no access until chores are done.

Now that Adam has this new plan, will it work in his favor? Will he still struggle to keep his kids in line… “an actual line”?

Do you plan on watching to find out? While I thought it was a really good pilot episode, I always find myself struggling to keep up with and stick to 30-minute comedies. That’s not to say that I won’t watch whenever I remember to. 🙂

Man with a Plan airs Mondays at 8:30/7:30c
