This week for episode 2 titled “Stormborn” we got a much wanted reunion, a look at what Cersei has planned for the coming war and a decision from our king in the north.
Lets get to it.
Arya and Nymeria Reunion
If you remember back in season 1 Arya was practicing swordplay with Mycah, the butcher’s boy; along comes Joffrey and things go from bad to worse. Nymeria is faithfully loyal to Arya and defends her against Joffrey by biting his arm when he attempts to strike Arya with a sword, Arya then had to send Nymeria off because the queen Cersei would have killed her. Now fans have been waiting ever since then for Nymeria and Arya to reunite and it finally happened in this weeks episode.
The reunion was much more special than we thought. Arya reunited with Nymeria and then once again sadly let the wolf go. Her parting words—“That’s not you”—have caused some confusion among the show’s fandom.
Thankfully showrunners Weiss and Benioff cleared up any confusion for fans. In one touching scene between Arya and her father Ned, Ned says to Arya that one day she will be a lady and marry. “No,” Arya sadly replies. “That’s not me.”
Benioff observes that Arya “wants [Nymeria] to come back home with her and be her loyal companion again. But Nymeria’s found her own life.”
Weiss underlines the Ned callback, saying: “‘That’s not you’ is a direct reference to what Arya herself said to her father when her father painted this picture for her as a lady of a castle, and marrying some lord and wearing some frilly dress. Arya’s not domesticated, and it makes total sense her wolf wouldn’t be either. Once the wolf walks away, at first she’s heartbroken to have come this close. Then she realizes the wolf is doing exactly what she would do if she were that wolf.” (thanks to Vanity Fair for the explanation)
Hopefully this is not the last time we see Nymeria and I honestly don’t think it will be.
Jon, much to the disagreement of his followers, finally agrees to meet with the dragon queen Daenerys. I myself have been eagerly awaiting this meeting. However, Dany has requested Jon to meet with her and bend the knee. Will Jon do as the queen commands? will they join forces to fight Cersei?
Before Jon leaves there is quite the heated altercation between himself and Lord Baelish down in the crypt. Baelish tells Jon that he loves Sansa the same as he loved her mother Catelynn. This information understandably angers Jon who warns him if he touches his sister he will kill him.
Sansa disagrees with Jon’s decision to leave and requests him to stay but quickly changes her mind when he makes her queen of the north. Finally Sansa has the north, I feel this is not a wise choice. I don’t trust her.
Maester Qyburn takes Cersei and shows her a crossbow, he tells her; “If they can be wounded, they can be killed.” This is the conclusion Maester Qyburn has reached in regards to the Mother of Dragons and her fire-breathing companions.
He takes his cues from the reports of Daenerys and Drogon’s Meereen escape at the end of season five, noting that Drogon sustained multiple spear wounds in the process. If spears could cause significant harm, imagine what a bunch of massive crossbows might do to Drogon and his brothers?
Poor Dany is a few ships short after this week’s episode. Good ol’ bad dude Euron Greyjoy attacked and took out a great portion of her fleet.
After Dany has her council meeting, Olenna Tyrell informs Dany that the reason she’d outlived so many clever men was because she ignored them. “The lords of Westeros are sheep,” she said. “Are you a sheep? No. You’re a dragon. Be a dragon.”
Euron, Theon and Yara Greyjoy
Newest villain Euron left last week’s episode with a promise of a gift for dear queen Cersei. It seem’s his gift is Ellaria Sand, the woman who murdered Cersei’s only daughter Myrcella by poisoning. Along with Ellaria, Euron also took one of her own daughters, Tyene, but not before killing her other two daughters.
Probably the biggest loser and let down of the night was Theon. Euron had his sister Yara captured and rather than try and save her, Theon jumped overboard and let Euron get away with her.
We do however have to remember what Theon went through when he became Reek and was kept hostage by Ramsay Bolton. He was tortured for months and even had his mini Theon cut off. I am sure after that ordeal he is still a little messed up.
After witnessing all that Euron had done, Theon knew that he didn’t stand a chance against his uncle. He couldnt save his sister.
Hopefully Theon thinks of a plan before it’s too late.
- Hot pie convincing Arya to return home to Winterfell instead of going to King’s Landing after informing her of Jon’s victory for the north.
- The death of two of the Sand Snake’s and Ellaria’s daughters Obara and Nymeria. I don’t think there were very many fans of the Sand Snake’s so I don’t think there was much loss there.
- The sex scene that finally happened between Grey Worm and Missandei. It was a long time coming and they finally got around to it. However, I feel maybe we could have done without that but good for them for being in love.
- Sam trying to help cure Jorah’s greyscale. Although it was quite a gruesome scene I hope that Sam can do something to help.
- Mellisandre meeting with Dany and filling her in on the details of the prince that was promised. Missandei informing Dany that prince can also mean princess, which get’s Dany thinking.
- Jorah writing a letter to Dany, check out his heart-wrenching letter below.

Sorry, I couldn’t help myself!
