American Horror Story Season 6 Pilot Review

Oooo the excitement was too real waiting for this one, I am a huge American Horror Story fan and couldn’t wait for season 6. I will however admit I have not finished Season 5: Hotel as I was not a fan of seeing Lady Gaga. So with the new season, I was kind of hoping she wouldn’t be in it! So far so good! We have returning favourites Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Evan Peters who I love!  We also have Wes Bentley, who I loved in Hotel so am happy he’s back.

There has been so much secrecy surrounding this season, with heaps of teasers being released but never an answer on what this season could be about. I have loved previous ones like Murder House, Asylum, Coven and Freak Show.

This season is all about The Roanoke Nightmare, or from what I get from the first episode anyway. It’s very creepy and I feel we are in for some good things. The show is laid out like those documentaries you sometimes see where the real people are talking in interview form but they show you a reenactment with actors acting out the story as the real people are telling it.

We get introduced to Matt and Shelby, who have just moved to the country after being attacked by a gang while living in the city. While out on a walk they discover an old mansion, which I am pretty sure is the mansion from Coven or very similar. It’s very beautiful. From night one they experience unusual things, sounds of animals being tortured is frequent. We also meet Lee who is Matt’s sister. We get a brief introduction to her and her life. Lee is an ex cop who lost her job to an addiction to prescription pills. She also goes through a divorce, and her husband gets custody of their daughter. Unusual things continue to happen and get worse as the episode progresses, with ghost sightings and a ghost mob who attack Shelby. We get a glimpse of Kathy Bates, who looks to be the leader of the ghost mob. Shelby accidentally runs into her while driving after becoming distracted.

I absolutely loved the first episode, it was action packed, scary and full of mystery. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I just couldn’t look away. There wasn’t anything I could really fault it on, It was a good first episode and introduction to the new season. I’m excited to see what different characters they have this time round and what they get up to, especially Evan Peters! 😉
